My path to creating ‘The Bluestack’ began all the way back to when as a somewhat idealistic Sociology student at uni, a friend gifted me a copy of Yvon Chouinard’s popular book, ‘Let my people go surfing.’ The book documented his mission to build a more sustainable supply chain and I loved his no nonsense approach to cultivating a more circular business model. Having grown up in an eclectic old house built on the grounds of an old Irish woolen mill, I ended up down a sustainable fashion rabbit hole and wrote my thesis on sustainability in the outdoor apparel industry. Since then I’ve been involved in everything from vintage clothing lines to upcycling classes for making french knickers, fair trade fashion shows and dress exchanges. I’ve also been lucky enough to travel to many’s the far flung place and have had lovely encounters along the way with incredible, ethically focused clothing producers. Now based in Paris, The Bluestack is simply a way to share the beauty of natural materials, inherited skills and the importance of continuing to question our supply chains and models of consumption.
